ESRI konference: podruhé na vlastní kůži (den 1)

Ve dnech 8. a 9. listopadu 2023 jsem měl jiý podruhé možnost zúčastnit se největší geoinformatické akce v České republice a to Konference GIS Esri v ČR .

Odjezd na konferenci

Odjezd na konferenci je vždy trochu svátek, a člověk se na tuto událost těší celé týdny dopředu. Bohužel jsem neodjížděl jako prezentující, ale o to víc jsem se mohl věnovat odborným přednáškám a seminářům. Jelikož pracuji na magisterském studiu, je potřeba před odjezdem vyřídit určité formality a především si vyplnit cestovní doklad, aby bylo jasné, kde člověk je.

Ještě před odjezdem jsem zamluvil pro mě a pro kolegu již vyzkoušený Hotel Panorama. Hotel se nachází pohé dvě zastávky od Kongerosvého centra metrem a vzhledem k jeho ceně to byla jasná volba. Příjemným bonusem je i wellnes s bazénem a vířivkou ve 24. patře s krásným výhledem na Prahu. 

Většina kolegů již odjela den předem, ale vzhledem k tomu, že konference začínala až v 10 hodin, rozhodl jsem se šetřit městské prostředky a vyrazit ranním spojem v 6:09 z Brna. Cestoval jsem s RegioJetem v Relax třídě s nadějí, že možná potkám samotného šéfa RJ Radima Jančuru, který podle jeho slov volí právě tuto třídu pro cestování. Radima Jančuru jsem však nepotkal, zato jsme dojeli do Prahy o 2 minuty před plánovaným příjezdem.

Program konference

Po příjezdu do Kongresového centra jsem zamířil do šatny a do předsálí, abych si trochu odpočinul a potkal se se známými. Příjemné foajé se brzy zaplnilo lidmi, kteří přišli na ranní kávu, a ruch byl čím dál větší. Velkou devízou této konference je, že se zde sejde téměř každý, kdo v oblasti GIS v ČR něco znamená. Podařilo se mi potkat bývalé spolužáky, staré známé či lidi, s nimiž jsem někdy přišel do kontaktu v rámci GIS.

V 10 hodin začal již samotný program v hlavním sálu. A prostory byly opravu velkolepé. První část programu jsou tzv. Key Note speakři a poravdě letošní ročník byl v této sekce poměrně slabý. Nicméně s přibližujícím oběděm již v sále panovala nervozita a lidé se začali přesunovat k perfektně připravenému cateringu. I já jsem zaujmul své místo a po odevzdání obědové stravenky jsem dostal vynikající svíčkovou s variacemi knedlíků.

V odpoledním bloku následovaly odborné přednášky, a bylo potřeba se plně soustředit na novinky v oblasti GIS. Byla zde připravena i klidová zóna pro networking a pracovní setkání, které jsem využil ke krátké schůzce se svým konzultantem rigorózní práce.

Samotný program končil po 18. hodině a mezitím, kdy se účastníci rozdělili do několika menších sálů již v předsálí vrcholily přípravy na společenský večer. Musím říci že i toto je nedílnou součástí konference a velice žádanou. Běhěm opravdu bohatě zásobeného rautu má člověk možnost diskutovat s dalšími účastníky a vyměnit si své zkušenosti. Přidal jsem se ke kulatému stolu složenému především ze členů olomoucké geoinformatiky a jejich příznivců. Celým večerem se nesla příjemná atmosféra a trochu nostalgické vzpomínky na mé studijní období. Kolem 23. hodiny se začal sál vyprazdňovat, a celá akce byla u konce.

Jelikož jsme měli hotel hned za rohem a v rámci ubytování i přístup do business lounge, zastavil jsem se zde. Nicméně veškeré občerstvení kromě kávovaru bylo již vyprodáno, a k dispozici byl pouze počítač a tiskárna. Ačkoliv by měl být salonek otevřen 24/7, toto bylo zklamání.
